Cookie Notice
This Cookie Notice explains how the AI chat and data-masking gateway service (the "Service", "Filterit") provided by the operator of filterit uses cookies. It supplements the Privacy Policy.
1. Our Approach
1.1 We use only a single strictly-necessary session cookie. We do not use analytics, advertising, profiling, or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not build behavioural profiles. We also use your browser's local storage, not cookies, to remember preferences (Section 2.3).
1.2 Because the cookie we use is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested (keeping you logged in), it is exempt from prior consent under the ePrivacy rules as implemented in Greek/EU law. We do not display a consent banner for tracking because there is no tracking to consent to.
2. The Cookie We Use
| Name | Purpose | Type | Attributes | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
auth_session |
Carries your signed sign-in token so you stay signed in and your requests are attributed to your account | Strictly necessary / first-party | HttpOnly (not readable by JavaScript), SameSite=Lax, Secure (in production), Path=/ | 8 hours from your last request (renewed while you are active); removed at sign-out or when you delete your account |
2.2 The HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax attributes reduce the risk of cross-site request forgery and client-side script access, protecting your session.
2.3 Browser local storage. The app stores preferences in your browser only: theme, lang, maskingMode, selectedModel, webSearchEnabled, defaultMaskingRules, maskingRulesKnown, onboarding_seen, sidebar_collapsed, and active_org_id (the workspace you last selected, sent with your requests so the right workspace answers). None of these identifies you to third parties and none is used for tracking. Clearing site data removes them.
2.4 Sign in with Google. If you choose Google sign-in, Google sets its own cookies on its domains under Google's policies, and your browser loads your Google profile picture from Google's servers. We set no third-party cookie ourselves.
3. What We Do NOT Use
3.1 No Google Analytics or similar analytics cookies. 3.2 No advertising, retargeting, or marketing cookies. 3.3 No social-media tracking pixels. 3.4 No cross-site or cross-device tracking.
4. Controlling Cookies
4.1 You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or remove cookies.
4.2 Note: because our session cookie is strictly necessary, blocking it will prevent you from logging in and using the Service. There is no functional impact from blocking other cookies, since we set none.
5. Changes
5.1 If we ever introduce additional cookies (for example, optional analytics), we will update this Notice and, where required by law, request your prior consent through a consent mechanism before any non-essential cookie is set.
